I Have An Obsession With Buzzer Beaters

Champ Week Mega-Show ft. John Fanta, Stanford Steve, and Bryant’s Jared Grasso & Peter Kiss

The moment the clock hits midnight on March 1st, my weird brain shifts to a different mode. It's a 50-50 split between thinking about some of the greatest college basketball buzzer beaters that have happened in the past, and wondering what teams and what players will be responsible for creating future March Madness moments over the next four weeks.

But one thing will always be the same: my obsession with buzzer beaters. There's something about the ball floating in the air for what seems like a millennium, going through the hoop, and then the instant roar (or silence) by the crowd. Knowing that because of what just happened in front of your eyes, people will always remember what happened on the floor that night.

So far, we have gotten a few true buzzer beaters in Championship Week. Our first one came on Monday night in the SoCon Championship Game between Chattanooga and Furman.

Another one of these magical moments was actually just last night in the second round of the ACC Tournament. Virginia Tech, a bubble team, kept its season alive with a magical shot against Clemson.

We are still in the middle of Champ Week, and we already have some all-time moments. Sometimes when I am bored, I'll watch college basketball buzzers beaters on YouTube. It's a good way to kill time, procrastinate, and get excited about the month ahead.

I brought this up on Wednesday's Pardon My Take (similar to Liam's obsession with long home runs), and it's worth mentioning as we have a new episode of Bench Mob out, too. On today's show, FOUR GUESTS!

- FOX's John Fanta

- ESPN's Stanford Steve

- Bryant HC and star player Peter Kiss.

This is March.
